Mathis, Marifian & Richter, Ltd. Announces Katharine A. Keefe as New Attorney

The law firm of Mathis, Marifian & Richter, Ltd. (MM&R), today announced that attorney Katharine A. Keefe has joined the firm as an associate. Keefe focuses her practice in business law, real estate and local counsel.

Patrick B. Mathis, shareholder of MM&R, said, “We are very pleased that Kate has chosen to join our firm and to lend her expertise in business law, real estate and local counsel to our clients throughout the St. Louis metropolitan area and southern Illinois.”  

Keefe graduated from Washington University School of Law in 2009 in the top third of her class. While in law school, she served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Gerald Lebovits in the Civil Courts of New York City and was a member of the Journal of Law and Policy. She was the winner of the 1L Client Counseling Competition and also volunteered as a Court Appointed Special Advocate for children at risk of having interests overlooked during the course of family law litigation matters.

Southern Illinois Healthcare Foundation Navigators to Help Ensure Residents Don’t Miss the Jan. 31 Deadline

On Jan. 31, the Health Insurance Marketplace closes for 2017. Eligible Illinois residents who don’t enroll in a qualified health plan by this date may miss out on coverage for the year as well as face penalties at tax time.
Whether an individual is enrolling for the first time or re-enrolling for 2017, Southern Illinois Healthcare Foundation (SIHF) makes signing up simple by hosting a free, daylong enrollment event on Sun., Jan. 29, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Gateway Center, One Gateway Drive in Collinsville, Ill. The event will give people one last chance to secure health insurance coverage for 2017.

Southern Illinois Healthcare Foundation Receives $38,000 Grant from Avon Breast Health Outreach Program for START NOW Breast Health Services Program

The Avon Breast Health Outreach Program has awarded a $38,000 one-year grant to the Southern Illinois Healthcare Foundation (SIHF) START NOW Breast Health Services Program. START NOW’s focus is to increase awareness of the life-saving benefits of early breast cancer detection and increase breast health services to uninsured and underserved women in St. Clair, Madison and Clinton Counties.

This is the seventh year that START NOW has received funding from the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade in recognition of its excellence in increasing breast health importance, targeting and reaching the more at-risk population, and reducing the timeline of services.  Since January 2009, START NOW has reached more than 7,510 women with information about the importance of early breast cancer detection and has referred almost 3,600 women for mammograms and clinical breast exams.
