Cork Tree Creative Sponsors Local Community Events

Cork Tree Creative is giving back to the community by sponsoring two local events in Collinsville, Ill. in March of 2015: the 7th Annual Evening with the Economic Development Commission (EDC) and the inagural Girl Scouts of Southern Illinois' Cocktails & Connections event.

Cork Tree Creative is working with the city of Collinsville to put on the 7th Annual Evening with the EDC to help celebrate Collinsville’s development opportunities. The event, which will be held on Thurs., Mar. 5, 2015, helps attendees learn about Collinsville’s retail, office and workforce industry while networking with professionals at this invitation-only event. Cork Tree Creative will also help Girl Scouts of Southern Illinois organize and promote its inaugural Cocktails & Connections event, a gathering of Southern Illinois women business and community leaders. This annual event will help develop future women leaders by promoting Girls in STEM (science, technology, engineering & math), financial literacy and health and wellness. The event will be held on Thurs., Mar. 12, 2015 and is open to all business women in the community. Reservations are limited. Girl Scouts of Southern Illinois provides a premier Girl Scout Leadership Experience for 14,000 girls and 4,500 volunteers throughout southern Illinois. Laura Reed Joins Leadership Council Southwestern Illinois

Cork Tree Creative Co-Owner Laura Reed joined the Leadership Council Southwestern Illinois in January. The Leadership Council of Southwestern Illinois’ goal is to unite business, industry, government, education and labor for economic growth in Southwestern Illinois.

As a member, Reed is looking forward to networking with other professionals in the region and cultivating relationships with businesses, sharing knowledge and learning from others.

The Leadership Council is a 501(c) 6 that is guided by a 16-member executive committee and includes approximately 175 top executives and decision makers, providing a level of diversity that makes the organization unique. Cooperation and collaboration among members and local community-based organizations have helped reshape Southwestern Illinois.

Cork Tree Creative Expands Staff

We are happy to announce the addition of Scott Brown to our growing firm. Brown joins Cork Tree Creative as graphic designer and lead web developer.Brown-100b

In addition to his experience as a graphic designer and web developer, Brown is also well skilled in online marketing. Scott brings 15 years of experience in pre-print production and website design. A former web designer and developer for Network Solutions, Brown was able to sharpen his skills in HTML, CSS, PHP, and specialized in CMS and ecommerce systems.  Brown is also a former web designer and developer at CDM Fantasy Sports and has extensive experience working with ad agencies on high-profile clients creating direct mail pieces, catalogues, presentation and convention materials and email marketing.

Scott is a very well-rounded professional that brings many skills to the table for a growing company like ours. His experience in web design and development, as well as print and electronic media design, will assist us as we continue to grow our business. We welcome him to the team and know that he will be a great asset to our already experienced staff.

A longtime resident of Edwardsville, Brown now lives in Saint Charles, Mo. He has one son.

Cork Tree Creative Adds Three New Staff Members

Cork Tree Creative, growing by leaps and bounds, today announced the addition of three new staff members - Carmen Schuette, Susan Van Norman and Alyssa Eason.

Carmen Schuette

carmen-headshotWith a strong background as an experienced designer, Carmen Schuette will assist Cork Tree with graphic design, photography, videography and all things art related.
Schuette received her bachelor’s degree in communications from DePaul University, and an extension of her bachelor’s degree in fine arts in photography from Columbia College. Before coming to Cork Tree Creative, she was a designer with different businesses like Lou Beres & Associates Advertising in Chicago and J. Crew. She has owned and operated her own photography studio, Carmen Schuette Photography since 2009. Learn more about Carmen.


Susan Van Norman

susan-van-normanSusan Van Norman joins Cork Tree as an illustrator and search engine optimization specialist. The Western New York native earned her bachelor’s in graphic design, and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in illustration. Susan has been a member of the Art Space and Open Studios in Grand Junction, CO, and former member of the Western NY Calligraphy Guild. In the past she has had design pieces selected for the Palace of Fine Arts Theater in San Francisco, heArt for Africa 2011 and The Art Center in Grand Junction, CO. For our clients, Susan will responsible for search engine optimization, graphic design, managing client projects, as well as online advertising campaigns. Learn more about Susan.


Alyssa Eason

alyssa-easonAlyssa Eason joined Cork Tree in December as a social media strategist. The Southern Illinois University Edwardsville graduate earned her bachelor's in communication and public relations, with a minor in English and writing. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in communications management. For Cork Tree, Alyssa will develop social media plans for clients and will manage online projects. She will be responsible for managing statistics and reports for businesses to help develop and implement plans that help companies achieve their organizational goals.
