The API Innovation Center (APIIC) is a non-profit focused on strengthening national health security through a proven public-private partnership model. As organizations in the pharmaceutical industry increasingly rely on clear communication and strategic pharmaceutical marketing to share complex initiatives, APIIC brings together government, industry, and academia to advance technology and activate underutilized manufacturing facilities, helping build a more resilient pharmaceutical supply chain in the United States.
As APIIC continued to grow, so did the need for clear, consistent communication. Their work is complex, technical, and deeply important, but not always easy to translate for broader audiences. To support their growth and visibility, APIIC partnered with Cork Tree for a strategic approach to pharmaceutical marketing, public relations, and creative presence.

APIIC operates in a space where manufacturing, policy, and healthcare all come together, creating both opportunity and complexity.
Their team needed to raise awareness of their key initiatives, from legislative milestones to national events, while making sure their message remained clear and accessible to a wide audience, including government leaders, industry partners, and stakeholders across the pharmaceutical and manufacturing sectors.
At the same time, APIIC was still building its foundation. Without an established brand identity or digital presence early on, there was a need for cohesive branding, a strong, clear website, and content that could communicate their mission with clarity and credibility.
Like many organizations in the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry, the challenge wasn’t a lack of impact. It was about making that impact more understandable for people, shareable globally, and scalable for their organization.
Our work with APIIC began at the foundation, helping define and build a brand that could support long-term growth.
We developed a full visual identity, including logo design and brand standards, giving APIIC a clear and consistent presence across platforms. From there, we designed and launched a website that balances usability, search visibility, and clear communication, ensuring visitors can quickly understand the organization’s mission and initiatives.
Because APIIC’s work is highly technical, content played a critical role. We worked closely with their team to translate complex subject matter into messaging that feels both accurate and approachable. This was especially important in the development of their annual white papers, created for the APIIC Plenary Event. Each publication, ranging from 60 to 80 pages, combined detailed research with thoughtful design, making them valuable tools for both communication and credibility. One of these white papers was recognized with a Communicator Award for Brochure or Pamphlet, Excellence (2024).
Public relations was another key component of the strategy. As a pharma PR agency, our team helped to support major milestones, including a bill signing ceremony with Missouri Governor Mike Parson at Cortex Innovation Community and a national newsmaker event at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. These moments required careful coordination across government and communications teams, along with a clear PR strategy to ensure messaging was aligned and coverage reached the right audiences.
Ongoing support included social media management, content creation, photography, and video production, helping APIIC maintain a consistent and professional presence across every touchpoint.
Acting as a pharma creative agency, we produced large-scale, high-impact white papers and supporting materials, including award-winning publications.
Managed ongoing content to support visibility, engagement, and consistent messaging across digital platforms.
Captured key events and produced visual content with photography and videography to support both marketing initiatives and public relations efforts.
Through a combination of public relations and digital marketing from our pharmaceutical marketing agency, APIIC significantly expanded its national visibility.
Media placements in outlets such as Yahoo! News, TD Ameritrade, Morningstar, and Ticker Tech helped position the organization as a credible voice in reshoring pharmaceutical manufacturing. Coverage across major markets, including New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Houston, further strengthened awareness among key audiences.
Beyond reach, the work through our pharmaceutical marketing strategies helped establish a stronger foundation for long-term growth. A clear brand identity, a functional and modern website, and well-designed publications gave APIIC the tools to communicate more effectively and consistently.
The result was not just increased visibility, but a more defined presence within the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry.
